Saturday, July 9 @ Downtown LA's Union Station, around ~6pm-ish at the Starbucks
(yes, they finally opened a Starbucks, a Famima, and a pretzel place)
It also happens to be Japanese Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium, Game 2 vs. San Diego Padres. A shuttle goes between the Stadium and the Station (free if you show your game ticket; otherwise it's $15 Stadium parking *sad panda*). Gametime starts 7:10pm. Pre-game festivities including appearances by the Nisei Week Court, the Consul General of Japan, a taiko drum performance and more at 6:30pm. Discount available online using the code: JAPAN. Starts at $8 and up.

The Japanese penchant for abbreviating names never ceases to amaze me. Already someone on the J-twitter referred to the group as "LosJack" and I did a double-take. And I learned the other day that Starbucks is shortened to "su-ta-bu" which sounds like "stab". I guess I do get cranky without my coffee...

Offical!
Yay! Today I received official permission from Mihiro-san of the head Kimono de Jack group in Kyoto. I just sent off my reply -- and that's it! There were no scary surprises, just a simple registration of my personal details. So don't hesitate to ask about starting a Kimono de Jack group if you don't live near LA, NYC, Florida, or the UK.
My Twitter will be "LA_jack001" (JP) and "kimonodejackLA" (EN).
More developments in the pipeline, I swear.
